It's monday morning & the "B" group of the Spring session of the FMRC recruits are meeting yet again. Some recruits think it's way to early. No sane person should have to function at 7 am. The gaggle of costumed adventurers were waiting in there usual meeting room. Most were talking to each other.

Ben Hermes, the hero in training known as Semi-Transparent Lad, was about to nod off in his chair. He spent most of night playing 'ALO, a European 1st person shooter video game. He knew he shouldn't have spend all night trying to kill Brooke electronically, but she did it first. He was going to play one game but she kept on killing him. So, he had to kill her at least once (That took till 4 am, when Brooke left for a moment to pee.)

A few minutes later, Mr. G. Matthew Summers walked into the room. He also knew it was to early. He walked in with a coffee mug full of his favorite wake up drink, a Red Bull Espresso Grande. Mr. Summers walked to the front of the room & stood at his normal spot.

Some recruits stopped talking & looked at Mr. Summers. Yet most of the recruits were still talking. Mr. Summers then cleared his throat, a few people stopped talking. Mr. Summers cleared his throat again, this made a few more stop. Then, Mr. Summers threw a small book, it had like 50 pages, at the last few people. When it hit wall near them, they knew it was time to stop talking, sat down & listened to the teacher.

"Good Morning." Mr. Summers said & then took a sip of his drink.

"I trust everyone is alright."

There were scattered replies.

"I have your mid-terms to hand back to you. Most of you don't suck, but there are a few of you & you know who you are that do." Mr. Summers said as he handed back the tests.

Ben sure hopes his doesn't suck but thinks he will, since he didn't study for the test.

"You may be wondering why this meeting was called at the ungodly hour." Mr. Summers said as he handed back more tests.

"Much like the FMRC seminars we have been having, another opportunity to further your meta-human careers is coming up. The thing is here in Parrodipolis, so you don't have to far. It's the annual event of Freaks, Whack Jobs & People living the fringe's big get together, the WeirdSciCon." Mr. Summer said as he past out the last of the tests. Ben then knew he doesn't suck, he got a B on the written part & a C on the applied concepts part.

"Our Founder, Mr. Garrick, is speaking at this event & no he is not a freak, whack job or a person living on the fringe of anything. He just deals with a lot of them. So as a special gift to us, every FMRC recruits can get into the WeirdSciCon at a reduced price. When you register, just show them your FMRC id card. That will get you in from almost free. You have to, like, pay 5 bucks or something like that, which is not much. I'm sure all of you can all scrape together 5 dollars. I think I have 5 bucks in my couch at home! Once in the convention, you have to do at least one thing: go to Garrick's thing. It's on day 3, it's a panel about ethics on something. So, at least show up to that & try not to fall asleep at it." Mr. Summers said, then he threw a pile of pamphlets . "Here are some program for this shindig, take one if you want it."

Ben took one, he's heard of this thing & from what he's heard, this should be interesting.

---------------

I'll write another thing tying into the WeirdSciCon involving STL some time soon. This will be him at the convention which I'll call "A Semi-Transparent Lad WeirdSciCon Tie-In Adventure, part 2: During the Con!". Not sure if I'll do a part 3 which would be a Post-Con story.
